"History of Surel people"

Surel people were original Sunuwar whos ancestors used to migrated from present day of Darkha Rasnalu Village Development Committee of Ramechchap District. Ancient Sunuwar kirant used to hunt in dense forest of TAMBE, CHORDUNG, JIRI as far as SAILUNG HILL All sort of animal including deadly animal tiger and beer as well. That time tiger, beer,jackel, fox and porcupine were considered enemy of human being in human society so who killed these animals were considered hero and saviour of society. When they kill tiger, beer and jackal the hunter carry them in door to door of community and community has to pay price as reward putting rice, money, raw eggs and sindur{A kind of red colour} on head of tiger, beer and jackel. This type of job used to done by Sunuwar kiranti because they were hunter people DUWAL BANDI SIKARI. They were very highly skilled hunter and doughty warrior as well. By the way of hunting process two Brother of SIKARI kirant went deep inside of Cherdung jungle and Disappear. They couldnt find the way back to Rasnalu instead they went even deeper and deeper jungle present day of SURIKHARI. The brother questioned themselves where we reached and replied themselves saying Suri Khari. That means unknown dark place in Sunuwari language. Still the Sunuwar Jhankri use to say SURI KHARI, SURI DHOKA, SURI DHOL. Sunuwar people have belief bad spirit can take someones soul and spirit to the Suri Dhoka and closed so almost guarantee to die so Jhankri, Naso try to bring back SATO{soul} from Suri Dhoka by the help of mantra.
But these two guys went deep in Suri Khari, Suri Dhoka and couldnt make their way back to their society. Thus they became Surel. The place where they live is Surikhari and people became Surel in other word they became geographical. According to their popular myth when they got Surikhari that time small community of Majhi people used to live in Suri Dovan they were poor people and used to suffer from Sherpa people. Once they couldnt pay the debt of Sherpa people so Sherpa Naike{leader} came and made captivity of their children they were so shocked and ready to die for that. One day two Sikari brother came around the Suri Dovan in way of hunting. Two Sikari brother knew all the story of majhi people why they are so shoked. Majhi people saw two kiranti brother as ideal person who can save their children. Two Sikari brother were wearing PEARL, MUGA AND WILD BOAR TOOTH carrying arrow and bow. The Majhis put condition on them saying if you safe return our children then we leave this place Suri Dovan to giving you. Two brother were Sikari they really dont need land but still they agreed with them because they want to secure their hunting land for future of their decendant. The two Sikari brother went deep inside the Sherpa community to warn them. When they are in the way middle of the jungle Sherpa Naike named CHENG NORBU AND HIS DOUGHTER found them. From far away Cheng Norbu seen stranger in jungle so he shoot the arrow near by the foot of Sikari Surel but they were so noble and remain still and intact without moving and scaring. To seeing their courages and happy smiley young guys instead daughter of cheng norbu fell in love with them. They told Cheng Norbu why they are coming and wanted to see release of all Majhis children who are kept in jail. They given one week time for Sherpa but they refused and finally war broke out skilled Sikari Surel kill most of them and release the childrens. Majhis were so happy then according to their promise they left place to giving Sikari Surel thus they start to live in Surikhari permanently forever.
According to myth elder brother married with the daughter of Cheng Norbu and younger brother married another Sherpeni who used to live in Goth{hut} of Cherdung jungle. Day time he used to hunt in Cherdung jungle and some time come to Goth of sherpeni to ask for water. But one day accidentally they had sexual inter course so sherpeni is pregnant but Sikari Surel left place by the way of hunting he never knew sherpeni is pregnant. Sherpeni gave birth in Jiri absence of father. When the child born problem is created. There was no one for NAWARAN special ceremony without father he cannot be prove as Sikari Surel or Sikari sunuwar so they gave cast differently from Sherpa and Sunuwar THE JIREL and his name was NAIDAR head of pasture land of Jiri because he born in Jiri. Jiri means dense forest where the tiger live in Sherpa language. Sikari Surel before he leave he was blessing Sherpeni saying CHERO DUMO. This chero dumo word later converted into Cherdung. Same thing the place called SIKRI in Jiri was created in the name of two Sikari brothers who came to shelter in night. Day time they used to hunt in deep inside jungle and in night they come to live by the bank of Sikri river. The word Sikri is created by this word Sikari. Still Jirel people use to call the word Sikri for Sikari in their mother tongue. The surel are hundred percent Sunuwar and their clan, language and culture is similar with Sunuwar.
They live the villages of Suri Haleswari, Tinekhu and Khahare in the vicinity of Suri Khola. Another mytholodgy they claim they were the second elder brother of kirant. Which were Saila Sunuwar, Kaila Rai and Kancha Limbu. These is very strong mythology which connected all Kirant in one. This is very famous mythology among Sunuwar, Rai, Limbu, Surel, Thami, Bhramu who live in Gorkha and Hayu. That means its not only mythology but unwritten real history. Surprisingly they have not more than 500 populations because they were disappearing cast in Nepal due to vivid reason. So far there is only one boy who passed SLC they live in very backward position. Such ancient tribe but disappearing their number they are endangered indigenous people so nation should do something for them to save.
